Pray for South Africa

Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name that is above every other name, the name of Jesus, Your only Son.

Your Word says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Your people are now calling to You God, please save our country, South Africa. We humble ourselves and we ask You to please forgive us our sins. We repent of adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, raveling’s, racial hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness, and pride. (Galatians 5: 19 – 23)

President Cyril Ramaphosa has invited all South Africans to take part in a National Day of Prayer wherever they are, in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19). The President made the call on the eve of the 21-day national lockdown, which will start at midnight on Thursday.

What Can We Pray for South Africa?

Dear Lord, we imagine nothing makes You happier than to see one of Your precious little ones growing up strong and happy. Bless each child in Southern Africa. Be an ever-present help to their parents. And lift up the World Vision staff members who work to serve You by serving them.

Christianity was first introduced to South Africa in the 1600s when large numbers of Christian missionaries began arriving from the Netherlands. Further missionaries from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Scandinavia, and the United States started to arrive in the early 1800s.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight. (Psalm 51: 1 – 3)

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free spirit. (Psalm 51: 10,11)

Father God, we pray that You will please send Your Angels to protect us. Your Word says in Psalm 91: 10 “No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.” Please Father, let no evil come near us, whether plague or terrorist attacks.

Father, in 1994 You sent an Angel to a police officer and said we must pray, otherwise, there will be civil war and bloodshed. Many people in South Africa prayed and You saved us. We now once again call on Your name to save us.

Father, Your unfailing Word says that we must call upon You in the day of trouble; and that You will deliver us, and we shall glorify You. (Psalm 50: 15) We now call upon You, God please save us. We glorify Your precious name.

Father, we pray that you will send confusion in the enemy’s camp. We pray that you will eliminate their communication and disrupt their evil plans. Father, we come against all those evil spirits in the name of Jesus and we nullify their plans. We also pray that no weapon formed against us will succeed. ( Isaiah 54:17 )

Father, we lift up every peace officer – police officer, metro officer, security officer, civilian as well as every soldier that is working long hours to protect us. Those who are standing guard in their cities. Please, Lord, we pray for a hedge of protection for each one of them. Cover them under Your blood of protection. We also pray for unity among them so that they can work together to protect our town and cities. Where there is strife and disunity I pray that your peace will come over them so they can focus on the enemy and not each other.

Father, we thank You for the victory in Jesus’ Name. Amen

This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.’

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you.

( 2 Chronicles 20)
